I’m sure there must be non-fiction accounts of people who have survived for long periods in emergency situations in deserts or other inhospitable environments, as well as books by travelers who have journeyed through deserts. Those first hand accounts would be far more valuable than the very brief comments you can get here.

Certainly if someone planned well and packed appropriate supplies, they could survive all of the natural hazards. There might be more danger from 2 legged threats.
