Great shelter guys but one small complaint. At around 0:40 you took your gloves off and chucked them on the ground, followed by your rucksack. In a real situation it would be safer to stuff your gloves inside your jacket and pin your rucksack to the ground with an axe or pole. If these went skittering off down the hill it could be disastrous.
excellent guys! lol reminds me of something id do as a kid. however im older now and big into the outdoors. building shelters is an important skill to have if venturing into the great outdoors. this shelter is simple, warm and all around quality. probably better than something you would be able to build in the woods. keep spreading the knowledge.
Yeah, in some situations you are right. In some places its so cold that the snow doesn’t bond well, however we made use of gravity in this shelter by making huge snow balls further up the slope and rolling them into position. Thanks for the comment.
Not if you pack the snow hard and follow the stick system shown in the video. There is a risk of cave in if you hollow the shelter out too much. Less space is more heat in these scenarios. Thanks for the comment!
my questoin is why fight gravaty and throw snow… f**k that, wouldn’t just be better to get on top and toss DOWN and go below the hill and start the process?
Outstanding job. Thank you very much for sharing this very well done video with us. It is a great example of the old saying:” Knowledge is Power.”
I live in Maine, US and we usually get an impressive amount of snow. I am looking forward to building a few of these and sleeping in them this winter. Maybe I’ll post a reply for you.
Great Video, you realy know what your doing. last year, my friend and I slept out in a shealter like this one. I just have one thing to add, make sure that the roof or celing is smooth. The reason for this is so that there is no un even spots causing drips and wetting you. Once again, great video, thanks

5 Stars from eastern usa. Well done!
Great shelter good job, One question though. Is there any chance of a cave in while you are sleeping?
