have you ever tried to dehydrate your own stuff? i bought a dehydrator and of you get creative, you can eat meals better than the packaged ones bc its fresh, even tho its dehydrated books like lip smackin' backpackin have some really good meals (ie. ultra-light pot pie for days you want to reward yourself)

A pound of sugar? Have you ever tried Equal Tablets, they work great and taste just like sugar. Weighs about 1oz. for 50 tablets.

yeah the sugar may seem extravagant and heavy ... but it was nice to have a little luxury. I may just have to look into the Equal tablets you suggest.

yeah, well you have to figure out what works for you. too much sugar for me. and i have to cut those oatmeal packs with a regular, or it's too sweet. and snicker bars-- you can forget those in southern california unless you don't mind licking chocolate off the wrapper. furthermore, those mtn meals are too damn salty. i have to cut those or noodle dishes with some unsalted couscous. i'm a vegetarian, so i don't eat sausage, but i eat a little fish. i like that tuna idea. good suggestions.
