I just received my book last Thursday, and I am very impressed. Living in the Baltimore area, I sometimes forget how many truly great places there are to see and explore within day-trip driving distance. This book not only gives very informative info on a bunch of good hikes and other adventures, but also sweetens the deal by showcasing the spots in breathtaking photos. Definitely the motivation needed to get out there myself and explore. This book will be the silver lining for those trying to stay close to home to save some money this summer. I highly reccomend.

I just received both the “50 Amazing things..” and “Ultimate Guide…” and both are breathtaking! I love love love the travel guide- the content is clear, well thought out, and has great detail. I just ordered a few more for some out of town guests I am expecting, and I know they will find it useful while in the area! I needed one like this when I went to the NY area!

A look into what photographers do to get those great pictures. Good photography is critical, but being in the right place is also important.

  5. I’ve lived in the Washington, D.C. area for over 30 years and am simply surprised by the un-discovered spots that Joe and Ian have found… along with the many other locations that I have visited… but simply have not gone back to in recent years. It’s like rediscovering a whole new territory to photograph. I have also worked with Joe in workshops and classes and on locations and i can pretty much assure anyone intersted, that when Joe says he’s been somewhere, he has… in daylight, nightfall, fog, rain, sleet, snow; Joe visits his favorite places repeatedly constantly seeking the ideal light and conditions for extraordinery images. Joe (and Ian) is a true professional and a master educator or private tutor. He enjoys sharing his love of nature and this book tells you exactly where to go to find extraordinary images. Then it’s up to you to press the shutter! William B. Folsom
